Throughout the year, the Tokyo Canadians Hockey Club hold various fundraising functions, and donate a portion of the proceeds to charity.
In recent years, the team has made donations to Seeing is Believing, the YMCA Foreign Community Supporting Commitee, the Tokyo International Learning Center, and to the Father Joe Meier Human Development Centre in Bangkok, Thailand (since 1997).
Most recently the TCHC, the Tohoku Freeblades, and NADIA, an NGO which was founded in response to the disaster that began on March 11, 2011, have agreed to join forces to accelerate recovery efforts for the people and children of the Tohoku region. A partnership between TCHC, Xebio and the Tohoku Free Blades will develop charity events based around hockey and sportsmanship with a view to further strengthening the bonds this has forged between Canadians living in Japan and our Japanese hosts.
The team takes this role seriously, takes pride in being to help out whenever possible, and strives to provide support to organizations who help others.
We hope to continue our support of these worthy institutions and possibly add others to the list in years to come.
